multidimensional associative array in C#

You can use a generic dictionary that uses a generic dictionary as the value:

var dict = new Dictionary<string,
Dictionary<string, object>>();

// Adding a value
dict.Add("key", new Dictionary<string,
object>()
{
    { "key1", "value1" },
    { "key2", "value2" }
});

// Retrieving value1
var result = dict["key"]["key1"];

class or function for associative array in php
What about factorizing like this: search..($user, $nametag, $agetag) { return array($nametag => $name, $agetag => $age); } And then calling the function like: $arr = search..($user, "name", "age"); $arr = search..($user, "firstname", "myage"); EDIT If you have many parameters you can encapsulate them in a single associative array, so you won't have to worry about long/explosing me

How to convert array to associative array?
You should create a new array. And loop through your existing array. Its every element will be an array with a value from your array as value. And key as the string file. $arr = array(); foreach ($data as $elem) { $arr[] = array('file' => $elem); } Try debugging if you get the correct array: echo '<pre>'; print_r($arr); echo '</pre>'; Lastly, echo json_encode($arr); exi

I read the documentation on Array more carefully. An array can also be created by explicitly calling ::new with zero, one (the initial size of the Array) or two arguments (the initial size and a default object). ary = Array.new #=> [] Array.new(3) #=> [nil, nil, nil] Array.new(3, true) #=> [true, true, true] Note that the second argument populates the array with references to
