cannot update attribute within users model in custom action

  • Your form is not submitting the values properly may be. So inspect your params in the binery select action.
  • record#update_attributes doesn't take a single value, it accepts hash. So the proper code should be something like:

    rails version < 4

    if @user.update_attributes(params[:user])

    in rails 4.*

    if @user.update_attributes(user_params)

in controller make sure you have permitted the user parameters.

Submitting a model to action that is different from view model's type

Rails and devise: model attribute not being persisted
You don't need the attr_accessor for :role if you have this defined as a column on your table. ActiveRecord gives you the database backed accessors just by having the relevant column defined in the relevant table. Your attr_accessor will be overriding these and preventing them from persisting your changes to the database.

Rails sorting on a virtual attribute generated from a model method
It isn't possible to sort by a virtual attribute using ActiveRecord, however, we can use sort_by! on the result. @boxes.sort_by! { |a,b| a.status <=> b.status } To automatically set the status, you could use after_find callback. #Box.rb attr_accessor :status after_find :generate_status def generate_status self.status

Custom Action for Wix Installer failing after first time run
